Once upon a time, there was bitterness between a husband and wife. It was an ordinary domestic issue that plagues every household almost every day. They had a young son, who was witness to their frequent quarrels. One day, Sabir, the husband, resorted to slapping his wife, Zoya, in a fit of anger. “Since I married you, my life has turned into hell,” he shouted. Zoya, with tears in her eyes, lamented, “You have caused me so much pain. I pray for death so I don’t have to take another breath with you.”

The dispute wasn’t over any significant matter. Their four-year-old son observed his parents’ fighting, sometimes holding his mother’s hand, other times his father’s. When Sabir couldn’t tolerate it anymore, he picked up a stick and began hitting Zoya. Zoya started screaming, and the neighbors rushed in. They intervened and separated them. Sabir declared, “I am divorcing you,” three times, and Zoya left with her son.
The little boy was terrified and traumatized, finding solace only in his mother’s lap. He wouldn’t even let go of her for a moment. A while later, Sabir filed a case to keep the child with him, and a notice was sent to Zoya. Her brothers read the letter and informed her of the legal action. Every Friday, Sabir’s lawyer, a well-known one, would fight for his case in court.
Zoya sensed defeat, and her son comforted her, saying, “We’ll lose the case.” Their bond grew stronger, but the boy’s fear of separation lingered, causing him to fall sick whenever he remembered the fight. At the final hearing, the judge announced that the son would stay with his father. Zoya was heartbroken and fell unconscious. Sabir took the boy and moved away, but the child screamed and cried, begging to go to his mother.
The lawyer smirked and congratulated Sabir on winning the case. The boy continued to weep, feeling imprisoned in his father’s house, as his mother’s wedding loomed over the horizon.
