Once upon a time, a Bedouin visited a city dweller’s home. The host decided to slaughter a chicken to serve as a meal for their guest. When the dining table was set, everyone gathered around. In the host’s household, there were a total of six people:

Two husbands,
Two sons,
And two daughters.
The host decided to make a jest and said, “Since you are our honored guest, you should be the one to divide the chicken.”
The Bedouin, with no experience in such matters, agreed, saying, “If you insist, I have no objection. Hand me the chicken, and I will divide it.”
Taking the chicken, the Bedouin first cut off its head and said, “In the house, the head of the family is the most important, just as the head of the chicken is. This part is for the husbands.”
Next, he cut off the tail end and explained, “The legs of the chicken resemble the sons. So, the legs are for the sons.”
Then, he removed both wings, saying, “The wings represent the daughters. They too are a pair. So, these wings are for the daughters.”
The host, bewildered, watched as only the chicken’s torso remained. The Bedouin smiled and said, “What’s left is the main body of the chicken, and you are the main body of the family. This part is for you and your wife.”
With this clever division, the Bedouin successfully allocated the chicken among the six family members.
The next day, the host’s wife decided to roast five more chickens. When they gathered at the table again, the host thought about how the Bedouin would divide them. He finally decided to ask the Bedouin for his method.
The host said, “Today, we have five chickens to divide. Would you mind helping us distribute them?”
The Bedouin replied, “Certainly, but today, let’s try a different approach. We should divide them in pairs.”
The host agreed and watched as the Bedouin took one chicken, saying, “This chicken represents you and your wife. It makes a pair.”
Then, he took another chicken, “This one stands for your two sons and your wife, forming another pair.”
He continued, “These two chickens represent your two daughters and your wife, making a third pair.”
In the end, only two chickens were left. The Bedouin smiled and concluded, “These two chickens represent you and your two sons, forming the final pair.”
The host, still puzzled, looked at the Bedouin, who laughed and said, “What’s left is for the guest!”
With this clever method, the Bedouin once again managed to divide the chickens with a fair and humorous approach.
The host was full of gratitude, realizing the Bedouin’s wisdom and ability to make fair and inventive divisions.
Roasted chicken, when prepared and consumed in a balanced and healthy way, can offer several health benefits:
Lean Protein: Chicken is an excellent source of high-quality protein. Protein is essential for muscle growth and repair, and it also helps maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails.
Low in Saturated Fat: Skinless roasted chicken is low in saturated fat compared to red meats like beef and pork. Reduced saturated fat intake can help lower the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol levels.
Rich in Vitamins and Minerals: Chicken provides essential vitamins and minerals such as B vitamins (B3, B6, B12), selenium, and phosphorus. These nutrients support metabolism, immune function, and bone health.
Amino Acids: Chicken contains essential amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids play a crucial role in various bodily functions, including the formation of enzymes, hormones, and neurotransmitters.
Weight Management: Lean protein can help you feel full and satisfied, reducing overall calorie intake and promoting weight management. Chicken is a suitable choice for those looking to control their calorie consumption.
Boosts Metabolism: Vitamin B6 found in chicken plays a role in metabolism. It aids in the conversion of food into energy and helps the body efficiently utilize the nutrients from food.
Immune Support: Chicken soup, often made from roasted chicken, has been used as a home remedy for colds and flu. It provides hydration and essential nutrients that can help support the immune system.
Collagen Formation: Chicken contains the amino acids proline and glycine, which are crucial for collagen formation. Collagen is essential for skin elasticity and joint health.
Phosphorus for Bone Health: The phosphorus in chicken contributes to maintaining strong and healthy bones and teeth.
Heart Health: Consuming chicken in moderation as part of a balanced diet may help reduce the risk of heart disease. Skinless chicken breasts are particularly low in saturated fat and cholesterol.
It’s important to note that the health benefits of roasted chicken can be compromised when it’s prepared with unhealthy cooking methods or when the skin is left on, as it contains more fat. To maximize the benefits, choose skinless chicken and use healthy cooking methods such as roasting or grilling, rather than frying.
Additionally, a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods is key to overall health. Be mindful of portion sizes and avoid excessive consumption of any single food item, including chicken, to maintain a well-rounded diet.
